Empty yourself and then you may be filled with the Infinite Light of the Highest. When the Soul is emptied of the Ego, then and only then it may be filled with the Light of Spirit. Until that happens, one resides in darkness, and spiritual ignorance.
Masters sometimes empty themselves of physical food, water & even air. In this way they may experience the full expression of the Light of God. This is part and parcel of what fasting is all about. It is a means of starving the ego that would otherwise make you believe that you truly need anything other than the Inner Light of God, things such as copious amounts of food. The fact is that the same Spiritual Source that created you also creates the food of the earth. Eating too much food will give you only a little more of that Light, and a lot more digestive problems than before.
Empty your body even of physical material, and the Light shines thru so strongly that one learns the Truth that one is not dependant in any way upon physical food to sustain the human body, but rather knows by experience that it is the Light of God that sustains us in the first place. Eating food is actually just one way of examining the world around us, a way to experience whatever energy signature the plant naturally possesses.
Of course, if one just meditated with food, one could then take all the impressions one receives and transfer (using imagination) them to his/her person. In this way, one can examine food and experience its effects without even taking a bite, not to mention enjoying the full benefit of the food by grafting onto/into oneself the vibratory signatures of food, including all vitamins, minerals, etc. This is a power that few people manifest, much less know about. Ancient peoples used to meditate on newly discovered plants, vegetables, and fruits before consumption in order to know whether or not it was worth taking a bite. In this way, they could avoid poisonous plants as well as discover and then consume those that produced effects they desired.
Masters imitate death while yet living. Just as the dead do not eat, neither do some great masters. Just as the dead do not drink water, neither do some masters. The dead do not breathe. Masters need not do that either if they so desire. In fact, many masters often spend hours in silent meditation, their bodies non-breathing, fixed in a state of suspended animation. The obvious difference here is that the Masters can consciously choose to experience the peace of death while yet living, while everyone else has no choice but to experience peace the old fashioned way—by dying.
But the unconscious dead always have to come back to incarnation on Earth because being unconscious, they have no access to the memories of their most recent incarnation. If they had become spiritually conscious in life, then they would remember their life well and have lived it a balanced way, subsequently having earned the right to choose whether or not to remain at peace or to come back to incarnation. Since the Masters have voluntarily experienced (with full consciousness) their own death on their spiritual path, they are in full possession of their memories. And while ‘dead’ they can remember fully their life (lives). And they realize that there is no longer any personal need to return. So they remain ‘dead to the world’. And yet they are still alive because they are spiritually conscious.
Such an enlightened person certainly knows the truth that man does not live by bread alone, but by the Light of God. Such a person has earned the right to choose whether or not to eat food while living, for they realize they are connected to the Source that also created the food. And if you are one with the Source, then what else do you need?
Keep in mind that not every spiritualist on earth expresses this Divine power/ability. The choices they make are based upon all the complexities of the person in question. And no one can choose for them.
With God, all things are possible.
