The most ancient of pharaohs, especially those not even recorded in written history, were true God-men who were absolutely united with the Universal Spirit. It was their Soul’s duty while embodied in flesh to use their connection for the benefit of the nation.
One manifestation of this duty involved the daily prayers offered to God for the general welfare of the nation. In the godless world of politics as it is practiced today, few people would ever believe that any political official could ever possess some magical abilities that could be used to intercede with God to realize his prayers for the benefit of the nation, but in ancient Egypt, that was exactly the case.
The ancient pharaohs were not elected by the people. Rather they were ‘chosen’ at a spiritual level. Those who had the greatest ability to serve in such a deep spiritual fashion were the ones who found themselves in the seat of power— pharaoh. Unlike the way it is practiced in democratic countries, there were no advertised election campaigns that promised much from untested candidates. For such is a sure way to destroy a nation, namely by entrusting the welfare of the nation to an ignorant population whose duty it is to periodically and unwisely choose which of his ignorant fellows from among the population they wish to unwisely entrust political power. This is the blind leading the blind, the dumb following the dumber. It always leads to chaos and destruction.
Enlightened leadership is best, whether for a nation, or for one’s personal self. Either way, one is ruling wisely by example and by working for the welfare of that thing to which one is entrusted. Be it your personal self or a whole country, so what? It is just a matter of a different perspective on the same thing.
Would you allow the individual cells of your body the opportunity to tell your Divine Self what state of health you should manifest? That is a democratic process which can only result in the cancer of mob-rule, of rule by terror, which is in fact the exact meaning of the word ‘democracy’. When the individual parts of the body, from tiny cells up to large organs, are divided against each other, then they cannot function together. Ill health and destruction always results.
If the body would be healthy, or if a nation or even a world would be healthy and harmonious, then all must work together. All must exist and work together according to a divine sense of order.
And the ancient Egyptians were obsessed with order. Maintaining that order and harmony was the responsibility of the pharaoh. As representative of God on Earth, it was his duty to reflect the Divine Order of the Universe through himself and bestow that order on the population, so that peace and prosperity and equality could reign in his nation. Only an enlightened being could ever hope to do this, much less do it successfully, as the pharaohs did for centuries, until corruption eventually destroyed Egypt, as happens to all nations in time.
Elected public officials can only dream of having the power of a Pharaoh. But they are wholly incapable of such a thing. They have not earned the ability to reflect Divinity in themselves and therefore cannot bequeath anything to the voters who elected them. Swearing an oath of office does not in any way guarantee good leadership, much less qualify one to lead. And it certainly does not make one enlightened.
If a group of people are unable to lead themselves due to a generalized lack of connection to Divinity, and outside leadership is truly needed among the people, then only an enlightened being can do the best job. Only the enlightened can spread light to the people of a nation.
Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue within our own solar system if the sun were usurped as the light-giver and replaced with some other ‘elected’ planet that gives no light, such as our moon? All would perish for lack of light!
Considering what has been written in this short essay,…where is the alleged supremacy of democracy?
