ART & ITS CORRECT APPLICATION

I have noticed many times in my life that when people meet a martial artist for the first time, the usual thought that pops into their mind is whether or not that martial artist has ever beat up someone.  I ascribe this pattern of thought found in most people to a combination of watching too many violent films, and a general fearful stupidity found among the masses.

Yet I see a manifestation of universal patterns here.  The key word in martial art is ‘art’.  That is truly what the fighting science is—an art.  And art, like any other skill or technological knowledge, is best used to serve others.  We all seem to get that warm fuzzy feeling when we learn of a trained fighter who only uses his abilities to help others in a noble and justified battle, all for the benefit of his fellows.  And likewise we all cringe when we learn of a fighter who uses his knowledge and skills to hurt others, to acquire things for himself.

The same is true of spiritual masters.  Adepts who help others are revered.  Those who harm others or use their magical abilities exclusively to gain things for themselves are abhorred, even labeled as evil sorcerers and such.

The fact is that any form of art can be applied in 2 main ways—to serve others, or to serve the self.  Any and every art is subject to this.

When an army (or any fighting force) is used to fight a justified war, such as fending off an invasion from a foreign aggressor, or to help free a people from some form of oppression such as an evil dictator, etc., then it can be said that the resulting combat is justified and conforms to the knowledgeable and wise application of universal laws.  Anything less than this kind of application of the martial arts is a manifestation of selfishness on the part of the person commanding the fighting force.

No artist whether he be a fighter, inventor, scientist, musician, etc., is justified in his/her application of their art if they are consciously using their hard-won skills and abilities to hurt others, steal from them, or otherwise harm their fellow beings in any way.    The best way to handle such a person is to ignore them, so as to not give them anything at all, no energy, no resources, nothing whatsoever.  The object is to starve them whilst they are in the hellhole they have created for themselves, all in an effort at allowing them an opportunity to surrender their selfish ways, so they may begin using their skills for helping their fellows instead of harming them.

If that person changes his/her ways through application of this isolationist technique, then it is a boon for all.  And if they refuse to change, then they are simply allowed to pass away from this existence to get another opportunity to learn in another lifetime.  In other words, let them starve to death.

Such is the way to deal with such negative beings.
